Philosophy and style of working:

Are you feeling a stuckness, difficulty in relationship, anxiety, low mood, unhappiness or confusion about what you want in life, or feel you just generally would like some non-judgemental support to work something through?

Psychotherapy has many unique strategies and resources to help you make changes and address difficulties.

Core Process Psychotherapy is an integrative psychotherapy that draws upon Buddhist understandings and Western psychodynamic theory.  ‘Core’ is a word used to describe the freedom and joy that lies at the heart of our being. ‘Process’ refers to the way that that freedom becomes clouded by the experiences that we have met in the world, and how as a result we begin to live lives that constricted by limiting beliefs, patterns, conditioned behaviour and suffering.

Most of our wounds have been created by relationships, and so engaging in a non judgemental caring relationship can be deeply healing. My approach is to gently and compassionately explore how life experiences show up in our present lives. The past can trip us up in the present. The caring presence of the therapist can really allow us to open up to that which has been to painful to bear. With awareness there is change.

I am interested in developing a mindful embodied awareness of the ‘here and now’, and to discover what it tells us about how we are, in relationship to others, the world and ourselves.  My approach is that therapy is a partnership with the client, jointly enquiring into the present moment, recognising old patterns that we enact in the present.

One focus of my work is exploring the space where mind and body meet. I believe they are not separate. The body knows and holds the wisdom to heal. When we connect with and give attention to the body, we learn more about our emotional landscape. By listening to the body we create pathways to our current and past experiences. The focus of my work is accessing our inherent health and wisdom rather than pathology. The work is done in the spirit of non-judgemental and gentle compassionate enquiry.
