Philosophy and Style of Working:

Elly’s primary objective is to restore physical health through a hands-on approach.  She believes in working with as many of the patient’s problems as possible in order to treat the whole person and help them towards a fuller and happier life. She uses a variety of hands-on techniques such as massage, mobilisation, manipulation and relaxation.  She also provides instructions for exercises and self help alongside preventative advice.

Whether you suffer from aches and pains, stiffness or weakness, stress, or just would like relaxation in general, this method can help you!

Treatments can vary from occasional sessions to regular ones depending on the problem. Each session usually lasts between 30-45 minutes.

Training and Experience:

Elly Nickson trained to become a physiotherapist at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. She then worked for about 3 years in various hospital departments and in an industrial clinic. She was the physiotherapist in charge at a rehabilitation clinic where, in addition to patient care, she developed team work and group leadership skills. In the psychiatric clinic she developed various relaxation techniques and a deeper interest in working more holistically with body, mind and spirit. The industrial clinic developed her interest in preventive and postural care and ergonomics in general.

Elly moved to England 1975 and started working in private practice, opening her own practice in 1979 where she has worked with aches and pains, postural problems, stress and other physical and psychological problems.
In all of her working situations Elly has undertaken further training through courses dealing with muscle function, mobilisation, manipulation, relaxation, group leadership, deep memory processing and other related subjects.
